Engineering Companies and Services in Leeds

Engineering in Leeds, particularly with recent expansion, is an important factor in the city's economy. Numerous development projects including bridge strengthening and urban renewal have found massive employment for all types of engineers from civil engineers to computer and electronic engineers. Leeds however is not an engineering dependant city in the same way that somewhere like Birmingham is. Most Leeds companies are quite small and employ less than 25 people. This does not leave room for multinational engineering industries employing hundreds or even thousands of people, particularly due to the incredibly diverse nature of the Leeds economy. Despite this many of the smaller firms in Leeds do work in an engineering capacity but mainly to provide other local companies with engineering services. The various colleges and universities around the area offer an extensive range of engineering courses that work closely with local projects, allowing young engineers to get some hands on experience before they graduate.
