Arts, Crafts, Sculptors and Artists in Leeds

Leeds has a fine tradition of educating famous artists. The sculptor Henry Moore and artist Damian Hirst were both educated at Leeds fine art school and both went on to become very famous both inside the art community and outside in the wider world. Aside from the Leeds school of fine art there are also several other art galleries in the city displaying a mixture of local and national art of all descriptions. The largest gallery in the city is the Leeds city art gallery which has a wide range of permanent and temporary exhibitions. The gallery is free to enter and is a very popular attraction in the city. The newest gallery in the city is the Henry Moore institute situated in the city centre, again admission is free and the gallery's many temporary exhibits draw a large crowd of tourists and locals alike.

Smaller artists in Leeds are encouraged via a programme called art collaborations which runs a Leeds art enterprise to exhibit and expose up and coming talent in the Leeds area.
